In the United States, 48.5 million people are living in poverty. Minimum wage is not keeping up with the rising cost of living and many workers struggle to afford decent housing.
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit Christian housing organization founded on the conviction that everyone should have a decent, safe, affordable place to live. Decent, stable housing provides more than just a roof over someone’s head. It provides:
Since 1976, Habitat for Humanity, in conjunction with churches and community groups, have helped 6.8 million people find strength, stability and independence through safe, decent and affordable shelter. Your donation to HfH will help families break the cycle of poverty and build long-term financial security. With an affordable, stable home, families have more to spend on food, medicine, child care, education and other essentials. Your support can help do more in all the many ways that Habitat builds.
Wiss is proud to support HfH’s efforts and we also have the most fun getting down and dirty, lending helping hands at the build sites. This is by far one of our favorite volunteering experiences, because we see where our efforts are going and additionally, get to build our work team to become that much stronger. This past year, one of the soon-to-be-owners stopped by and it made the experience all the more real and rewarding. FWRD Client Services Manager, Donna Woronka, recalls “It felt great to be part of a team that had a passion to help others. The highlight of the day was meeting the soon-to-be owner of the home. She was so elated to be moving into her new home with her family in just a few weeks. The feeling that I personally felt from her excitement is unmeasurable, and makes me want to do even more for others in need!”
