The selected workflow

A clear path from preparation to approval.

Basis prepares a first pass from the approved sources for the selected workflow. Your reviewers examine the output and supporting evidence before authorized approval and posting.

The struggling moment

Your team is working hard. The work keeps winning.

Growth has increased the volume and complexity of accounting, but your operating model still depends on people moving information among spreadsheets, systems, inboxes, and workpapers. The practical answer is one well-chosen workflow, prepared properly for deployment.

  1. 01

The close starts with a search

Your team spends the first days collecting files, matching transactions, and rebuilding support before meaningful review can begin.

  2. 02

Your best people remain trapped in preparation

Controllers and senior accountants still perform work that should arrive ready for their judgment.

  3. 03

Every step forward adds another burden

A new entity, product, bank account, or system increases the accounting surface area faster than your team can absorb it.

  4. 04

Another tool will not fix an unclear use case

Adding software without a defined workflow, owner, and review standard creates more work. Start with the use case, then choose the tool.

When volume and complexity outgrow my team, help us complete dependable accounting work without continually adding people, replacing our systems, or weakening control.

How the work changes

You keep the systems and the approval. Basis prepares what happens between.

Basis connects to the information your team already uses, completes the first pass, and attaches the support and explanation required for review.

  1. ERP, bank feeds, file storage, spreadsheets, policies, and prior work.

  2. Schedules, reconciliations, journal entries, and analysis with support attached.

  3. Reviewers examine the output, assumptions, identified exceptions, and supporting evidence against the agreed review standard.

  4. Your authorized team retains control of approval, posting, and reporting.

We assess how Basis can work with your accounting environment.

The connection method and permissions depend on the selected workflow and systems. Integration work is defined in the agreed scope. System examples are not a compatibility promise.

How success is judged

Success measures are agreed for your workflow.

When it is appropriate and your available data supports it, we agree how success will be judged for the selected workflow before launch, such as elapsed time, exception volume, or reviewer effort. Ongoing performance measurement and reporting can be scoped separately.

Measures for the selected workflow

Elapsed time
From the start of the workflow to approved completion.
Exceptions
Identified issues that need a reviewer’s attention.
Reviewer effort
The work required to examine output and supporting evidence.

The real question: What should your team become capable of next?

Faster work matters. The larger return comes when your accountants use the recovered capacity to improve reporting, strengthen controls, understand performance, and participate earlier in business decisions.

Why this combination

Accounting technology needs accounting judgment around it.

Basis supplies the accounting-native execution engine. Wiss combines accounting knowledge, live Basis experience, and practical implementation support.

Why Basis

Basis was built to perform accounting work rather than provide a general-purpose conversation.

  • Understands recurring accounting workflows and supporting evidence
  • Retains company-specific context across the close
  • Supports reviewer examination of output and supporting evidence
  • Creates a traceable record of what the agent did and why
  • Operates inside your existing accounting environment

Security and controls

AI can prepare the work. Your team retains authority.

Security is shared, and each party owns a different part of it. Basis secures the platform, Wiss configures the deployment, and your team remains accountable for the result.

Basis

Platform security

  • Platform security and tenant isolation.
  • Data processing and permitted use governed by the applicable documentation and customer agreement.
  • Model providers and retention requirements reviewed before deployment.

Wiss

Deployment controls

  • Access limited to the systems each workflow requires, at the level you approve
  • Review, approval, and stop points configured before launch
  • Identified exceptions are routed to an assigned reviewer.
  • Normal activity, exceptions, and retained evidence tested before go-live

Your team

Client accountability

  • Names the workflow owners and approvers
  • Approves posting and other consequential steps
  • Reviews the output and supporting evidence before accepting the work
  • Operates the workflow after the agreed handoff

What Wiss helps clients do

Basis implementation and deployment support.

The core engagement takes one selected workflow from a confirmed use case to a responsible launch.

Each deployment has agreed launch criteria covering output quality, required review, permissions, and evidence. Broader process redesign, custom integrations, and ongoing performance reporting are separately scoped.

Required access and review controls remain launch conditions even when additional specialist work is separately scoped.

  1. Confirm the right first workflow and the owners responsible for it.
  2. Configure Basis around your existing accounting process, systems, and review requirements.
  3. Test the workflow, exceptions, permissions, approvals, and retained evidence before launch.
  4. Prepare users and reviewers for go-live, and support the transition into normal operations.
  5. Add process redesign, integration, controls, data, or broader technology-prioritization support when separately scoped.

A simple implementation path

Prepare. Configure and test. Launch and support.

Three steps for the workflow you choose. Each step ends with a decision before the next begins.

Where to begin

Start with one workflow. Keep the bigger picture in view.

Bring us a recurring accounting workflow that consumes too much time, delays review, or depends on knowledge held by too few people. We will determine whether Basis is a responsible fit.

A strong fit

  • The close consumes too much of the monthPreparation delays review and leaves little time for analysis.
  • Growth keeps creating more accounting workNew entities, systems, and transactions are increasing faster than team capacity.
  • Important knowledge sits with a few peopleContinuity depends on employees remembering how the work gets done.
  • You want AI with professional accountabilityYour team wants configuration, testing, training, and launch support around the technology.

Not yet a fit

  • The work happens onceA one-time project rather than a recurring workflow.
  • The information is not reachable or reliableThe data the work depends on cannot yet be accessed or trusted.
  • No review standard existsThere is no accepted standard against which to judge the output.
  • The goal is to remove reviewBasis redirects your team’s judgment; it does not replace it.

Questions finance leaders ask

Straight answers before you begin.

Does Basis replace our ERP?

No. Basis operates as an intelligence and execution layer across your existing systems. A deployment can begin without replacing the general ledger.

Does the AI post accounting entries on its own?

Not by default. Posting authority is configured around your controls and risk tolerance. Initial deployments generally prepare the work, attach support, and route it to an authorized person for approval.

What happens when the agent is wrong?

AI-generated work can contain errors, including errors that are not flagged. Reviewers examine the output and supporting evidence against the agreed review standard before approval. Identified issues are corrected, and workflows that fail acceptance criteria are adjusted or paused. During the agreed launch-support period, Wiss helps resolve deployment issues and documents the handoff.

Where should we begin?

With a recurring, time-consuming workflow that draws on accessible information, has identifiable exceptions, and already has a review standard your team trusts.

What does Wiss do that a software vendor does not?

Wiss brings accounting knowledge and live Basis experience to the deployment. We confirm the right first workflow, configure Basis around your process, test exceptions, permissions, and approvals, prepare your users, and support go-live through a documented handoff.

What happens after the initial deployment?

Before work begins, we agree the Basis subscription and guided-deployment scope, Wiss’s implementation responsibilities and fees, and the support arrangements after handoff. Wiss’s launch support ends at the agreed handoff. Ongoing optimization, performance reporting, and expansion can be scoped separately. Platform support follows the Basis agreement.

How do you protect our accounting information?

Basis provides platform security and tenant isolation. Before deployment, the relevant documentation and agreement are reviewed for data processing, model providers, retention, and permitted use. Wiss configures the workflow’s approved access, review, and approval controls. Your team retains responsibility for reviewing and approving the accounting work.

Is broader transformation work included?

No. The standard engagement is Basis implementation and deployment support. Discovery, operating-model redesign, technology prioritization, additional specialist controls, data or integration work, CIO advisory, and ongoing performance support can be scoped and priced separately based on your needs. Required access and review controls remain launch conditions.
