Don Logan has been with Wiss for eight years, but his involvement in his local community started long before that. Up until recently, before its relocation, Don was part of the South Shore Karate Club since the age of 10. Don excelled in the club and started teaching younger kids when he was just 13 years old. The Karate club’s teachings incorporated excellent core values and one of the things the instructors strongly encouraged was community involvement. Don’s karate instructor was associated with the Police Academy and provided the students a chance to volunteer within the department.  Don took this opportunity and started volunteering in the Academy’s athletic department at the age of 13 where he taught a number of different techniques in hand to hand combat and other training.

In addition to being the Director of Information Technology here at Wiss, Don is currently a member of Sayreville American Legion Post 211, following in a long line of his family’s footsteps. Through American Legion, Don helps provide a number of different services to the community, including parades, funerary services for veterans and veteran programs including the Wounded Warrior project.  The Legion is also very involved with Toys for Tots where they participate in a motorcycle ride, donation drive and toy drop. All money raised through the events goes directly to Toys for Tots. Similarly, all of the funds raised for the Wounded Warrior Project goes towards helping those that are less fortunate in their communities, veterans and their families.

Don also acts as the Vice President for Sayreville Little League Baseball and has done so for the past 3 years. Among other things, he serves as a Manager and Coach and participates in fundraising and advertising to get sponsors in addition to interacting with the town council to continue making improvements to the fields and surrounding areas. Don’s remaining time is spent as member of the Sayreville Lions Club, Rotary Club, Philo Lodge 243 Free & Accepted Masons and the Sayreville Boy Scouts of America.

What’s most important to Don is giving back to the organizations he felt gave him a great experience as a child. They do their best to assist in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being, and Don is dedicated to instill these values within the children he teaches.
