At Wiss, we believe in exceptional service, both inside and outside of the office. Our values live beyond our work. We’re committed to positively impacting lives by supporting all those who face an uphill battle, including the youth and underrepresented groups. Through our various community outreach programs and partnerships, we aim to propel people forward through education and opportunities that will help them realize their potential and maximize their performance.
Our long-standing partnership with Team Walker does just that. Team Walker’s mission is to provide safe and constructive alternatives to the harmful influences that plague inner-city youth, specifically in Jersey City, NJ. Through a structured academic and recreational environment, the children learn how to focus on teamwork, responsibility, persistence, and unity. Having this program that focuses on academic and recreational activities gives these children a better chance to stay free from negative influences that may surround them at home or in their neighborhoods. We enjoy participating in their events as it gives us an opportunity to be positive role models in these children’s lives.
As founding partner of Strong Girls United, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to empower girls to be strong, confident, and resilient through sport and physical activity combined with mental skills and wellbeing activities, we’re working to support women and girls in sports who need more advocates.
Some of the programs that we support are:
- Events with Impact, two-hour events for girls to feel and be part of a team and exercise their body and mind
- Strong Girls U, a university program that is run by collegiate student-athletes for underserved girls in their communities
- FAM, a 1:1 mentorship program where girls in elementary and middle school are paired with collegiate and professional athletes for weekly meetups over the school year
- Book club that features books written by female athletes, and is open to all, which makes the program accessible across time zones and zip codes
The organization that is most near and dear to the hearts of Wiss, is the Lexi Faye Foundation. Alexis “Lexi” Faye’s warmth and kindness touched everyone who was lucky enough to know her. In May 2019, a tragic automobile accident took the young life of a beautifully sensitive and caring person. Her presence continues to remain and impact others through enduring memories of her selfless acts of kindness and compassion. At Wiss, we continue to follow the bright and guiding light of Lexi’s legacy by helping others through acts of selflessness. We support events like the Whiskey & Wild Game Dinner to raise donations for The Lexi Faye Everyone Matters Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping the disadvantaged and disenfranchised so that they receive the care, compassion, and shelter they deserve.
