Wiss’ Trailblazing Female Figures: Celebrating National Women’s History Month

By: Danielle Patton, former Marketing Intern

The observance of National Women’s Equality Day not only celebrates the adoption of the 19th Amendment, but commemorates women’s remarkable and courageous efforts towards absolute equality in the workforce and all aspects of life. To honor this historic day, we would like to highlight Ugochi Oguh, an Audit Senior and inspiration leader at Wiss.

Ugochi has a vast history of stimulating diversity and helping nonprofits conquer their financial and business challenges. After receiving her accounting degree, Ugochi began working for one of the Big 4 accounting firms to perfect her accounting and auditing skills. With a year under her belt and comprehension of the multifaceted obstacles nonprofits face daily, Ugochi left the Big 4 and devoted seven years to working at a nonprofit, guiding organizational leaders through budget management and compliance requirements. As the current treasurer for the Union County Chapter of NJCPA, a pro bono accountant for Rutgers African-American Alumni Association (RAAA) and a proud affiliate of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), Ugochi has continued to champion for the success of all individuals struggling under social and legal constraints, mentoring minorities and helping them see value in themselves and their professions. As an Audit Senor for nonprofit organizations at Wiss, Ugochi is able to provide the expertise and information they need to create tremendous social impressions in their communities by offering financial advice, consulting services, and tax amenities.

By believing in the mission of these groups and acknowledging the profound impact nonprofits make in the lives of those who need it most, Ugochi feels truly connected to her passion and strives to continue helping charitable organizations unleash their potential and provide communities with magnificent opportunities for all. Through these actions, Ugochi has encouraged generations of female pioneers in all industries to use their skills to help others, expand women’s influence in the business province and fight for better opportunities for individuals across the globe.
